Yagi được ghi nhận là cơn bão nhiệt đới mạnh thứ hai thế giới trong năm 2024, tính đến thời điểm hiện tại.

Reuters mô tả gió mạnh và mưa lớn từ siêu bão Yagi bắt đầu trút xuống miền Nam Trung Quốc vào sáng nay (6-9). Đặc khu Hồng Kông (Trung Quốc) cũng có mưa to gió lớn.

Với sức gió mạnh nhất lên tới 245 km/giờ gần tâm bão, Yagi được coi là cơn bão nhiệt đới mạnh thứ hai thế giới trong năm 2024, tính tới hiện tại, chỉ xếp sau cơn bão cấp 5 Beryl ở Đại Tây Dương.

Yagi cũng là một trong những cơn bão mạnh nhất tấn công châu Á trong năm nay.

Bão Yagi mạnh gấp đôi kể từ khi tàn phá miền Bắc Philippines vào đầu tuần này và dự kiến đổ bộ vào bờ biển Trung Quốc từ Hải Nam đến Quảng Đông vào chiều nay.

Do bị ảnh hưởng nặng nề bởi mưa lớn kèm theo sấm sét dữ dội, các trường học ở miền Nam Trung Quốc phải đóng cửa ngày thứ hai liên tiếp. Hầu hết các tuyến giao thông trên khắp miền Nam Trung Quốc cũng phải ngừng hoạt động.

Nhiều chuyến bay cũng đã bị hủy ở Hải Nam, Quảng Đông, đặc khu Hồng Kông và Macao.

Tuyến đường biển dài nhất thế giới, cây cầu chính nối Hồng Kông với Macao và Chu Hải ở Quảng Đông, cũng bị đóng cửa.

Tại trung tâm tài chính Hồng Kông, không chỉ trường học mà sàn giao dịch chứng khoán cũng ngừng hoạt động, giao thông bị hạn chế đáng kể.

Trong bối cảnh đó, chính phủ Trung Quốc đã cử lực lượng đặc biệt đến Quảng Đông và Hải Nam để hướng dẫn phòng chống lũ lụt và bão – theo Tân Hoa xã.

Siêu bão Yagi đang tiến vào TP Văn Xương, Hải Nam - Trung Quốc

Siêu bão Yagi dự kiến đổ bộ vào Hải Nam là rất hiếm, vì hầu hết cơn bão đổ bộ vào đảo này đều được phân loại là yếu. Từ năm 1949 đến năm 2023, khoảng 106 cơn bão đổ bộ vào Hải Nam nhưng chỉ có 9 cơn được phân loại là siêu bão.

Các nhà khoa học nhận định các cơn bão đang trở nên mạnh hơn do tác động của biến đổi khí hậu. Tuần trước, cơn bão Shanshan tấn công vào phía Tây Nam Nhật Bản là cơn bão mạnh nhất tấn công quốc gia này trong nhiều thập kỷ.

(Xinhua/Guo Cheng)  BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters raised its emergency response for flood and typhoon prevention from level III to level II in the Guangdong and Hainan provinces at 3 p.m. Thursday, as Typhoon Yagi approaches.  The eye of Yagi, the 11th typhoon of the year, was located on the sea approximately 540 km southeast of Xuwen County, Guangdong Province, at 2 p.m. Thursday.  Yagi is expected to make landfall on Friday afternoon or evening somewhere between the city of Qionghai in Hainan and Maoming City in Guangdong.  Due to the approaching typhoon, the main section of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge will be closed temporarily from 9 p.m. Thursday, according to the bridge's emergency rescue headquarters.  Affected by Yagi, parts of Guangdong and Hainan will be pounded by rainstorms from Thursday to Sunday, with daily rainfall likely to reach around 500 mm or more. All childcare institutions, kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, and secondary vocational schools in Guangdong's Zhuhai City have been asked to suspend classes, local authorities have said.
